- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Brazil nut and middle-intensity aerobic exercise on blood lipid profiles and atherogenic index in white rats. The participants were divided into three groups: 1) the normal diet+non-exercise group(n=17); 2) the Brazil nut containing diet+non exercise group(n=20); 3) the Brazil nut containing diet+aerobic exercise group(n=18).
One-way ANOVA was conducted to analyze blood lipid profiles and atherogenic index among groups.
The results were as follows: HDL-C, LDL-C, TG, and TG/HDL-C was statistically significantly higher in the Brazil nut containing diet+non exercise group than in the normal diet+non-exercise. Also, in the Brazil nut containing diet+aerobic exercise group than in the Brazil nut containing diet+non exercise group. But in TC, there was no statistically significant difference among groups For such a reason, Brazil nut consumption and middle-intency aerobic exercise program may be a safe and effective strategy for the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
