Abstract
The present study investigate changes in the nutritional components of various agricultural by-products (wheat bran, mugwort by-product, and soy pulp) after being fed to Tenebrio molitor (TM) larvae. At the end of the experimental period, the residual agricultural by-products were collected and analyzed. The experimenht was conducted using a completely randomized design, consisting of three treatment groups with three replicates each. The treatments included Con, TRT1 and TRT2, in which 180 g of wheat bran, mugwort by-product, or soy pulp, respectively, was used as feed for 20 g of 3rd instar TM larvae. No significant differences were observed among treatments in dry matter, crude ash, and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) contents (p>0.05). However, significant differences were found in crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), and acid detergent fiber (ADF) contents (p<0.05). The soy pulp treatment showed higher CP contents and lower ADF and NDF contents than other treatments. These results suggest that soy pulp can be used as an alternative feed source for animal feed when fed to TM larvae. Additionally, the CP content emerged as an important factor influencing the growth of TM larvae.
