- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to explore the actual condition of the residential environment of university student athletes. Participants in the study selected 16 people (male: 9 people, female: 7 people) in consideration of the event, gender, grade, and region, etc. The collected interview data derived themes through area analysis and classification analysis. As a result of the study, first, 'the actual condition of the dormitory' was found to be 'type: a dormitory dedicated to general dormitories and sportsmen', 'reason for use: duty and autonomy', and 'the meaning of a dormitory: a space where there is a rest'. Second, 'difficulty in living in a dormitory' was found to be 'physical aspect: insufficient laundry facilities', 'time and space aspect: privacy invasion', and 'relational aspect: uncomfortable cohabitation'.
Third, 'changed dormitory culture' was found to be 'institutional aspect: dormitory experienced for the first time', 'living aspect: effort for horizontal relationship', and 'personal aspect: between autonomy and control'. Subsequent studies were suggested based on research results and discussions.
