- Abstract
- This paper gave an outline of Japanese Research Development School system, and analyzed, as a specific example, a case of operating Research Development School that is designated for developing subjects like 「Basic Geography」 and 「Basic History」. In order to analyze actual case of operation, I visited Nihonbashi Jogakkan High School in Tokyo and Kobe University Secondary School in Kobe to collect data and have an interview with teacher in charge. The implications resulted from this research are as follows; First, reform of curriculum and making new subject or area should be implemented based on empirical materials on a long-term perspective, and need to efficiently utilize system like the research development school in Japan.
Second, we need to prepare a system to get advices and cooperation from universities or outside experts, in research and development, as like management direction committee, research development school liaison council and research council in Japan, and to share experiences of other research schools.
Third, it is necessary to intensify and actively apply the R&D function and role of kindergartens, elementary schools, middle and high schools attached to national universities that are permanent research schools.
Fourth, setting of research project should be made in a way that educational policy demand and originality of school field should be reflected in equilibrium.
