- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to investigate parents’ perceptions of the effectiveness of students’ active learning in science class. Participants are 251 parents of students in elementary, middle, and high schools that implement active learning in science classes. In this study, we developed the questionnaire to survey the parents’ perceptions of educational effects through active learning lessons. Parents’ perceptions of the educational effects by students’ active learning were examined according to the school levels, periods of class, and students’ academic achievements. As a result of this study, parents recognized that their children have improved their self-directed learning skills through active learning. And parents’ perceptions of the confidence in the instructions and assessments by teachers were diminished. Therefore, it is necessary to operate training programs for parents so that they can understand active classes of students and participate in school education.
