가시뼈대그물말(Dictyopteris prolifera)의 영양성분 및 항치매 활성

초록

Dictyopteris prolifera is a phaeophyceae belonging to the Dictyotale family. This study investigated the proximate analysis, antioxidant activity, and anti-dementia activity of D. prolifera, a brown seaweed collected from Jeju Island, Korea. General composition analysis showed that carbohydrate, crude protein, crude lipid, crude ash, and moisture contents were 46.85%, 1.80%, 0.03%, 43.56%, and 7.97%, respectively, with potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium as the primary minerals. The solvent extracts from D. prolifera were prepared using 70% ethanol and distilled water. The extraction yield of water and 70% ethanol were 17.68% and 6.17%, respectively. The range of total polyphenol contents was approximately 5.27–6.73 mg/g. The 2,2'-azino- bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging activity (EC50, 2.19 mg/ml) and nitrite scavenging activity (EC50, 2.24 mg/ml) were higher in the ethanol extract. In anti-dementia activity, the ethanol extracts exhibited higher acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity (IC50, 0.57 mg/ml) than that of the water extract. In contrast, the water extract exhibited higher β-secretase inhibitory activity (IC50, 15.50 μg/ml) than that of the ethanol extract. As a result, D. prolifera may be useful as an antioxidant and functional substance in food and pharmaceuticals because of its anti-dementia properties.
