Development of Luminous Pipeline Indicators for Rapid Response During Vulnerable Times

초록

Underground utility pipelines are often excavated and buried within the jurisdiction of various organizationsfor operational purposes. Conventionally, nail-shaped identification markers are typically affixed atop thesepipelines. However, these markers are frequently damaged during winter snow removal, road resurfacing, andsidewalk-block replacement projects, resulting in disasters and safety incidents. The government mandated theinstallation of general and electronic tag markers on road curbs as a countermeasure. Despite this measure,there remains a need for effective pipeline markers during vulnerable nighttime hours. To solve this problem,a luminous marker for nighttime use was developed. A solar panel was engineered to power a small device,and the optimal brightness level was determined to ensure proper lamp operation. In addition, the circuit wasdesigned to conserve power and prevent lighting interference by allowing the lamp to be turned on and offin short cycles. This development aims to improve public safety by protecting lives and property throughpractical applications in everyday life.
