Integrating advanced technologies into the carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) machining process is innovative work for improving efficiency, precision, and intelligent production. This study explored recent innovations in CFRP machining, including novel machining techniques, robotics, digitalization, and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven optimizations. Novel machining processes integrated with ultrasonic and heat energy assistant mechanisms improve machining processes. These assisted technologies can increase the efficiency of machining production. Further, integrating robotics technologies offers flexibility and cost-effectiveness compared to conventional CNC. However, it still presents challenges, such as maintaining accuracy and minimizing defects during the machining of the CFRP process. Digitalization represents a transformative shift to high efficiency and guarantees production quality in CFRP machining processes. In particular, digital twin technologies enrich CFRP machining processes by syncing virtual and physical processes. Digitalization technology has led to the emergence of machine learning algorithms, which have predicted the machining parameters and detected defects during the CFRP machining processes. So far, through this review of the advancement technologies for CFRP machining, we have addressed the current challenges and limitations for high-performance industries in this review.
