예비 해기사 여학생들의 초기 대학생활 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구

초록

This study investigates the early university experiences of female ship officers in maritime education. Four students enrolled at K University participated, and their experiences were analyzed using Giorgi’s phenomenological method. The analysis yielded 61 meaning units, 13 themes, and 5 categories. Findings highlight career choices influenced by tuition and personal growth, regimented campus life under uniform discipline, the dual challenges of academic study and onboard training, the supportive community of peers, and efforts to develop as female ship officers. Participants reported frustration and difficulties in interpersonal relationships and academics due to the strict environment, yet they also acquired essential attitudes and competencies for seafaring and achieved personal growth. This study contributes to understanding the initial university experiences of female ship officers and underscores the importance of education and policy attention in fostering the development of female ship officers.
