Abstract
This paper describes the design and fabrication of a 1,500 kg stacker crane for the safe handling of electric vehicle (EV) battery cells, modules, and packs. The stacker crane was conceptually designed, structurally analyzed for safety, and fabricated based on the analysis results. The fabricated stacker crane was subjected to characteristic tests, and the results showed a load capacity exceeding 1,500 kg, travel speed exceeding 222.2 mm/s, travel noise level below 66.2 dB, and positional accuracy under 0.02 mm/m, all of which satisfied the design specifications. Therefore, the stacker crane developed in this study is expected to be highly effective for the safe handling of EV battery cells, modules, and packs.
