| dc.description.abstract | A Realization of Morocco’s Philosophy of Peacein the Moroccan Sahara Region DOI http://dx.doi.org/10.62783/SHSS.7.5.77 Gyunyeol Park* & Wonil Choi** Abstract: This study aims to propose a novel approach for resolving the Moroccan Sahara issue by applying John Rawls’s Principle of Difference, thereby enhancing Morocco’s historical commitment to peace and its cultural receptiveness. It seeks to demonstrate how targeted social justice initiatives can foster stability and contribute to national unity in a complex territorial dispute. The research first analyzes Morocco’s historical identity, characterized by non-aggression and cultural absorption, contrasted with the enduring challenge of the Moroccan Sahara. The proposed affirmative action measures, grounded in the Principle of Difference, are argued to foster significant increases in negentropy (social order and stability) and promote deeper social integration within the Moroccan state. This approach is also expected to align Morocco’s policies with UNESCO’s cultural diversity initiatives, potentially attracting international support. Implementing comprehensive affirmative action guided by the Principle of Difference offers Morocco a strategic pathway to solidify its philosophy of peace, ensure lasting stability and prosperity across its entire territory, and serve as a model for the peaceful resolution of similar internal disputes globally. This strategy prioritizes social justice and cultural harmony as foundational elements for enduring national peace.
