- Abstract
- This study investigates the fracture behavior of high-strength aluminum alloy 7075-T6 sheets through experiments and finite element simulations. Uniaxial, plane strain, and in-plane shear tests were conducted under quasi-static conditions. Digital image correlation (DIC) was used to capture local strain fields at fracture onset. Experimental results were used to calibrate the Modified Mohr–Coulomb fracture model with parameters determined by the least squares method. ABAQUS/Explicit was employed with the Yld2000-2d yield function and Voce hardening law, with refined meshes (0.1 × 0.1 mm) in critical regions. Validation with the round cup-drawing test showed fracture at ~10 mm in experiments and 9.78 mm in simulations. The good agreement confirms that the MMC-based model reliably predicts anisotropic fracture behavior of 7075-T6 sheets, offering practical applicability to sheet metal forming processes.
