- Abstract
- This study aims to closely analyze the semantic function of the delimiter ‘kkaji’. The additive delimiter ‘kkaji’ has been dealt with more in comparative studies with delimiters such as ‘jocha’ and ‘majeo’ rather than in individual studies. However, there are few comparative studies with the same additive delimiter ‘do’. Therefore, in this study, we will compare and examine the alternation patterns of ‘kkaji’ and ‘do’.
In chapter 2, we summarizes the theoretical contents of the additional delimiter ‘kkaji’, ‘do’, ‘'jocha’, and ‘majeo’. In chapter 3, sentences in which ‘kkaji’ was written were extracted from the newpaper corpus and each sentence was analyzed in detail. As a result of the analysis, it was show that ‘Kkaji’ reveals the maximum value in the alternative set as the focus of the sentence, and that elements in the set can have positive, negative, and neutral properties. In chapter 4, we explore the alternation patterns of ‘kkaji’ and ‘do’. There were also cases where the meaning changed or became a ungrammatical sentences due to the replacement. This is related to the influence of the non-scale usage of ‘do’ on the interpretation of the sentence. Also, when ‘kkaji’ was replaced with ‘do’, the implied meaning of surprise, sarcasm or criticism that was revealed in the existing sentence was greatly weakened.
