- Abstract
- CIA(Cast Iron Alloy)pipes composed of low-chromium iron are generally used for ash transport in coal-fired power plants. As power consumption increases, coal consumption also increases, which, in turn, increases the amount of ash to be processed. Rapid processing of a large amount of ash requires increasing the ash transport speed by high air pressure, which accelerates pipe wear, thus highlighting the need for developing pipes with improved wear resistance. In this study, a pipe is manufactured using the double centrifugal casting method, wherein molten metal is poured twice and the cooling rate is controlled. This process forms a gray cast iron structure on the outside of the pipe and a white cast iron structure on the inside, which improves wear resistance. Manufacturing pipes using double centrifugal casting can improve the operational efficiency of coal-fired power plants by improving the pipe life.
