- Abstract
- This Study proposes a stochastic optimization strategy for medium-voltage direct current (MVDC) systems to regulate power flows within distribution networks (DNs) in coordination with a battery energy storage system (BESS). The research addresses uncertainties arising from prediction errors in photovoltaic (PV) generation and load demand by applying a distributionally robust chance-constrained optimization method. To cooperatively optimize the operation of MVDC systems and BESS in DNs, the reliability constraints on bus voltage are stochastically relaxed, thereby maximizing the cost-effectiveness of DNs. Numerical simulations indicate that by reducing the conservativeness of the reliability constraints, the distribution system operator can achieve greater economic efficiency in electricity imports. © 2025 IEEE.
