- Abstract
- This paper proposes product development processes and product data model for smart, connected products. The proposed processes and data model can support smart, connected product development as a framework for supporting information systems. The proposed product development processes reuse the framework of existing product development processes that have supported mechanical products. The proposed product data model also references existing product data model based on bills of material. The model extends the software modules of product configurations and software parts in assembly product structures. The proposed processes and data model were implemented as a product data management system, and a prototype smart, connected mannequin has been developed using the implemented product data management system and proposed product development processes. The result of application example shows that the proposed process and data model can support the development of smart connected products and it needs extensive and comprehensive usage of software technologies over the smart, connected product life cycle.
