Abstract
This study examines strategies for reducing building energy consumption in Jinju City based on national statistical data. Key data utilized include energy consumption by building use, energy intensity, and the age of buildings in Jinju City. The methodology involved extracting and compiling necessary data from various dispersed national statistical sources. Through this process, the building types that significantly contribute to Jinju City's building energy consumption were identified. Additionally, the age of buildings by type was investigated to consider the priorities for improving building energy consumption. Furthermore, the study examined the rate of increase in consumption and energy consumption intensity by building use. The results indicated that residential buildings account for the largest portion of energy consumption in Jinju City, suggesting that reducing energy consumption in these buildings should be a priority. In particular, finding ways to reduce energy consumption in aging single-family homes was found to be important. In terms of energy sources, the proportion of electricity consumption was high in non-residential buildings. Therefore, strategies for reducing electricity consumption and promoting the supply of renewable energy in the context of reducing carbon emissions were identified as potential areas for consideration.
