- Abstract
- As a city with beautiful nature and excellent historical/cultural resources based on the spirit of patriotism and loyalty, Jinju is a tourist city that holds all types of culture and arts festivals. Nevertheless, the development of tourism cultural products has not been actively performed. Therefore, this study aimed to develop cultural tourism products that could show the regional individuality and cultural value of Jinju at home and abroad. After theoretically considering the symbols of Jinju city, and the concept of tourism cultural products by referring to the previous studies, literature, and internet articles, this study researched the current sale state of Jinju tourism cultural products, planned the design, and then carried out the process of producing actual products. The results of this study were as follows. In the process of planning the design, two concepts, such as the retro arrangement of colors and modern arrangement of colors, were planned.
The fashion accessory products and travel products that could be used practically by every visitor to Jinju were selected as the items to be developed. The motive design was based mainly on pomegranate, jujube tree, and white heron as the symbols of Jinju spirit, by utilizing the cultural symbols of Jinju, such as Chokseok Pavilion, Jinju Bridge, Uiam Rock, and Nam River. In the process of developing the design, after designing the textile using the symbols of Jinju in the combination of each motive, this study produced travel products, such as passport case, sleep shade, neck pillow, in-flight slipper, and case for sunglasses, as well as fashion accessory products, such as scarves, back pack, cross bag, card wallet, and coin purse. Through the development of a design for tourism cultural products using the seven symbols of Jinju and its specialty silk in this study, it would be possible to promote the addition of higher value to regional products, to establish the foundation for vitalizing the relevant studies, and strengthen competitiveness as a global city of culture and tourism.
