- Abstract
- Submarine cables require protective elements such as flexible protection tubes and piggy back clamps (PBC). The flexible protection tube is installed to encase the cable, providing protection against external impact, while the PBC serves to support the spacing between the structure and the cable. This study evaluates the bending performance of flexible protection tubes and PBC through full-scale testing. For the flexible protection tube, the bending radius was measured using a 2.5 m curvature inspection template under an applied bending moment of 15 kN·m. For the PBC, the bending performance was assessed by analyzing the transverse displacement curve over time and evaluating structural integrity under the same bending moment. The test results confirmed that both the flexible protection tube and PBC maintained their structural integrity and bending performance under the given conditions.
