- Abstract
- Traditionally, aluminum metal cylinders have been widely used in applications such as pesticides and sprays. However, the durability of general-purpose cylinders, which are widely used closely by people, has rarely been accurately verified.
Therefore, in this study, the durability fatigue and rupture of a 0.7 L aluminum spray bottle, commonly used forspraying, were analyzed, and the results were compared by conducting actual experiments. In the actual pressurizationtest, deformation started at 170% of the working pressure at which the cylinder was charged, and the rupture of thecylinder started at 180%. In the normal water pressure repeated test, the deformation or leakage of the cylinder was notobserved during 10 repeated tests. Furthermore, structural analysis showed that elastic deformation started at 115% ofthe working pressure in the unpressurized state, but permanent deformation started at 170% and the actual ruptureoccurred at 180%. These results confirm the agreement between the FEM and pressurization test results. Themethodology applied in this study is an effective approach to the optimization of rupture and fatigue enduranceconditions of general-purpose spray cylinders and can be extended to the safety assessment of cylinders with largersizes and other applications.
