Abstract
Elemental concentrations in medicinal plant species effective against urolithiasis have been studied by the Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) method. The analysis was conducted using proton beam from the 3 MV Pelletron Accelerator facility at the Institute of Physics (IOP) Bhubaneswar, India. The concentrations of the inorganic elements P, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Se, Br, Rb and Sr were determined. The results indicate that elemental concentrations are associated with the medicinal plants healing ability, suggesting that these findings may be related to the plants therapeutic values. The generated data set of the elemental concentrations of medicinal plants of present study may be used to correlate to the possible therapeutic impact on urolithiasis. © Akadémiai Kiadó Zrt 2024.
