Abstract
This paper presents a signal processing method aimed at reducing communication delays occurring duringdata transmission between computers and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) used in automationequipment control. By analyzing the processing time of each internal PLC process to identify the causes ofcommunication delays, we observed that processing time increased with the communication process workload. Based on this analysis, we developed a formula and signal processing method capable of dynamicallyadjusting response waiting times and the number of data points by reading the PLC scan time prior to datatransmission. Experimental results conducted in a configured communication test environment demonstrated areduction in scan time of over 18% for XGT PLCs and more than 30% for MELSEC PLCs. Therefore,the communication signal processing method proposed in this paper can effectively enhance datacommunication between computers and PLCs.
