- Abstract
- This study investigates the wear properties of an Al6061-T6 aluminum alloy with various surface treatments, focusing on the correlation between surface hardness and wear resistance. Rotary joints play a crucial role in multifunctional radar systems by preventing the twisting of cooling water pipes during antenna rotation. Maintaining the integrity of these joints is essential, particularly with respect to the preservation of the high-quality seal that directly affects the performance and lifespan of the system. This research explores whether increasing the surface hardness via various coating techniques can further enhance wear resistance. Eight types of surface-treated samples are prepared via chemical conversion and thermal spray coating. Each sample is processed to obtain a surface roughness of Ra 1.6 or below. Wear tests and hardness measurements are conducted to analyze the relationship between the surface hardness and wear properties. These findings provide valuable insights into the design and manufacturing of rotary joints and similar components.
