Abstract
In this study, an MES SW was designed and implemented that could monitor the status of a PLC and interwork with the database by communicating data between the PLC and the PC, which is a core requirement in the MES development of manpower. The smart factory, inspired by the fourth industrial revolution, is becoming increasingly interested in utilizing big data to support productivity and higher-level decision-making. To utilize this data, automation technology and IT technology has converged, and it is now possible to increase the productivity and efficiency by collecting and analyzing the data generated in each process and connecting all the processes such as design, manufacture and distribution. In contrast, automation technology uses a lot of controllers such as the PLC; however, it is difficult to sustain the operation state for the continuous maintenance of facilities. Therefore, a method to store facility data generated in an automation facility at a PLC level, in a database has been designed and implemented in this study. This is a technology that is much required in the MES system domain.
