초기 내단학의 정립과 김가기

Abstract

이 논문에서는 당나라 시대에 종남산에서 도교 수련을 했던 신라인 김가기의 삶을 다루면서, ｢종남산 자오곡 김가기 「마애비문｣과 『속선전』의 내용을 검토하고, 그가 수련한 내단법이 상청파 계열의 초기 내단학인 것을 새롭게 규명했다. 본래 내단학은 외단과 내단이 통합된 고대의 연금술에서 분화한 것으로서, 종려파의 내단학이 등장하기 이전에 부록파 도교에서 전승되어 왔는데, 외단이 유행하던 당나라 시기에 상청파 도사와 교유하던 문인들 사이에서 ‘복기(服氣)’란 이름으로 알려진 바가 있다. 김가기는 이러한 복기법으로 수행하여 외단에 의지하지 않고 백일승천을 성취했던 최초의 인물이다. 여기서 주목할 점은 김가기의 도교 수행에 신라의 전통적 신선사상이 일정한 부분에 기여했다는 사실이다. 이러한 사실은 김가기가 중국의 도교 수련법을 단순히 수용하는 데 그친 것이 아니라, 신라 고유의 신선사상과 통합하여 새로운 형태의 내단학을 정립했다는 점에서 큰 의미가 있다. 그 점에서 신라 시대의 내단학이 종려파 내단사상을 수용한 결과라는 기존의 관점은 재고할 필요가 있다.

In this paper, I examined the life of Kim Ga-gi, a Silla person who practiced Taoism at Mt. Jongnam during the Tang Dynasty. Here, I focused on the contents of 「Jongnamsan Zaogok Kim Ga-gi Maebimun(終南山子午谷金可記磨崖碑文)」 and 「Sogseonjeon(續仙傳)」. As a result, I argued that the inner alchemy method that Kim Ga-gi practiced was the early inner alchemy method of Shangcheng Daoism(上淸派). Originally, the inner alchemy was integrated with the exterior alchemy in ancient alchemy, but it was later divided into exterior and inner alchemy method. Even before the emergence of ‘Zhongli-Quan and Lu-Dongbin's alchemy theory(鍾呂內丹學)’, the Taoists of the traditional Taoism practiced such an inner alchemy method. During the Tang dynasty, when the exterior alchemy was popular, a few poets made friendships with the Taoists of Shangcheng Daoism. Among them, the inner alchemy method was known as Bokgi(服氣). Kim Ga-gi ascended to heaven in broad daylight by performing this kind of Bokgi technique, who was the first to not rely on the exterior alchemy method in Taoist history. It should be noted here that Kim Ga-gi's final success is related to the ideas of imortality in Silla. It is particularly meaningful that Silla's traditional ideology contributed to certain areas of the inner alchemy.
