| dc.description.abstract | In this study, we examined the vocabulary employed by Russian speakers residing in Korea when composing posts in Russian within a Facebook community. This group encompasses Koryeins, Russians, and Central Asian migrant workers. The selected Facebook communities serve as a collective communication platform where users cohesively create and share information. While numerous Facebook communities for Russian speakers exist in Korea, our emphasis was on those lacking specific limitations based on regions, gender, age, nationality, and the like. Future research may delve into communities with shared characteristics, such as gender or hobbies. The Facebook communities under investigation primarily featured posts related to job searches, advertising, and the trade of used goods. Instances were observed where specific members joined multiple communities and periodically posted the same advertisements or articles. Even when using Russian vocabulary, individuals incorporated borrowed words from Korean, totaling 104 examples in this study. The identified vocabulary predominantly pertained to occupations, housing, and administrative matters, reflecting the living and working conditions of the majority of Russian-speaking individuals. While not exhaustive, our list of borrowed words from Korean revealed intriguing insights. Notably, social media platforms provide a space for unrestricted expression, and borrowed words from Korean are not bound by Russian orthographic rules. During the transcription of Korean vocabulary into Cyrillic, diverse variants emerged as members transcribed words frequently heard or considered significant. Some variants directly mirrored errors made by Russian-speaking Korean learners. Subsequently, through an on-line loanword adaptation phase, the number of variants decreased, and widely accepted spelling will be established. The borrowed vocabulary primarily consists of nouns, which, akin to Russian, are utilized in varied ways based on gender, number, and cases. Certain vocabulary remains uninflected. Some words derived from Korean have meanings that are absent in the Korean vocabulary. Occasionally, these lexemes undergo changes in parts of speech. This paper meticulously analyzed the morphological and lexico-semantic characteristics of the borrowed vocabulary. Furthermore, we explored the correspondence between the Korean alphabet and the Cyrillic alphabet in the collected vocabulary, categorizing them into consonants and vowels. Our objective was to gather, present, and analyze colloquial Russian language in Korea while attempting to discern the reasons behind such transcriptions and/or transliterations. | - |
