Abstract
Over the past 50 years significant achievements have been produced in the field of studies on marine terraces of Korea, the impressive attainments are no less than those in any other topic in Korea’s geomorphological community even since the 1990s. In particular, a sizable list of accomplishments have been accumulated on account of absolute dating techniques since 1990s, and more definitive facts have been revealed by cross-validation with a variety of research methods. Looking back on the history of studies on Korea’s marine terrace over the past 30 years we remember that discussions and debates have always progressed in a constructive manner and that the results is far from small. It is clear that we will be closer to the universa l facts in a number of future studies and this allows us to restore the sea-level fluctuations and reveal the patterns and properties of crustal movements during the Quaternary.
