- Abstract
- This study explores the themes of forgiveness and redemption in Kim Yong Ik’s “The Wedding Shoes” and their connection to religious teachings. Through a comparative analysis of the narrative and biblical texts, the research demonstrates the enduring relevance of forgiveness as a transformative force. By contextualizing the story within a broader literary and religious framework, the study uncovers its impact on readers and its universal themes, fostering a deeper understanding of its significance. “The Wedding Shoes” presents a compelling narrative of forgiveness and redemption, resonating with both literary and religious traditions. The protagonist’s transformative journey toward compassion and understanding aligns with Jesus’ teachings on love and forgiveness as portrayed in Matthew 5:38–48. Through acts of kindness and empathy, the protagonist finds healing and renewal, exemplifying the timeless relevance of forgiveness as a powerful force in the human experience. By situating the story within a broader context, this study highlights its enduring resonance and universal themes.
