Abstract
In this study, we aimed to address issues related to the rear axle flexible flange, which plays a crucial role in thepower train of an internal combustion engine and the transmission of rear-wheel drive. Specifically, this componentis responsible for preventing oil leakage from the rear axle, reducing vehicle vibration, and mitigating instability. One of the primary challenges associated with the rear axle flexible flange is the difficulty of procuring replacementparts, which can result in an unnecessary increase in repair costs and a longer repair period when replacing theentire axle assembly. To address this issue, we investigated the feasibility of using automotive parts manufacturedthrough the DMLS process to repair damaged areas of the rear axle flexible flange. Our findings demonstrate thatthe DMLS process can produce practical and effective replacement parts for the damaged areas of the rear axleflexible flange, thereby reducing repair costs and minimizing the inconvenience associated with repairing or replacingthe entire axle assembly.
