- Abstract
- In this work, a double-T shaped wideband microstrip patch antenna (MPA) with a modified ground plane is described for 5G communication. The Rogers RT-5880 (30×30×1.575 mm3, 2.2, 0.0009) based antenna model is analysed by using 3D EM simulator CST-MWS suite. The proposed antenna has a double T-shaped patch, modified ground structure and fed line. The double T-shaped patch antenna covers a higher 5G frequency band 24.333 - 31.801 GHz. The proposed design allows the antenna to operate as a wideband antenna with a reflection coefficient of -40.36 dB, average efficiency (92%) and VSWR (<2). At a resonance point of 26.88 GHz, the gain and directivity are 6.367 dB and 7.158 dBi respectively. Therefore, the designed double T-shaped antenna might be considered as a candidate for upper 5G band. ? 2021 IEEE.
