- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to analyze characteristics of formative art of costumes, architecture, crafts through the period drama in the Belle Epoque. As a research method, this study investigated theoretical background of in the Belle Epoque fist, and analyzed after capturing images in ‘Cheri’ focusing on the women's costumes, architecture and crafts. As a result, Léa costumes showed characteristics of costumes in the Belle Epoque of the peak period the influence of art nouveau as with remarkable expression of exotic taste in accessories based on the oriental motif as well as in S-curve style dress, empire tunic style, pastel color, soft materials etc. As for Charlotte costumes, hourglass or S-shaped dress which was in fashion before the Belle Epoque was worn, showing characteristics of costumes in the early stage under the influence of art nouveau through its dark color and splendid ornaments. For the fields of architecture and crafts, a variety of colors were used with winding or crossed curves which is a characteristic of Art Nouveau and bright and soft pastel color influenced by impressionism. In the field of architecture, construction materials such as iron and class that were very popular in the Belle Epoque were widely used, and in the crafts, characteristics of Art Nouveau formative art such as plant patterns, birds, female motif and especially exotic-taste motif were very well expressed in the formative art of the Belle Epoque. This way, motif and exotic taste such as organic curve, soft tone, bright and soft mood of pastel tone, plant, birds, butterfly and female were examined commonly as characteristics of art nouveau in the field of various formative art.
