Abstract
It is important to maintain temperature uniformity highly within battery to improve battery performance. Whe n cooling battery with only coolant, temperature difference occurs between the parts where coolant flows or d oes not, and thus the battery temperature uniformity is degraded. To resolve this problem, flat heat pipe is at tached at the upper surface of battery and giving cooling effect from 100W to 300W. Therefore, four positio ns of flat heat pipe are selected on the upper surface of battery with relatively high temperature and compare d with it without flat heat pipes attached. As a result, at the cooling performance of 100W, Case 1 had the lowest maximum temperature. In a range of 200W or higher, Case 2 had the lowest minimum temperature, a nd Case 3 showed the highest temperature uniformity of battery throughout the range. Additionally, Case 4 s howed the smallest difference of temperature between maximum and minimum temperature.
