Abstract

In strategic management field, knowledge is thought as a source of sustainable competitive advantage. Efficient knowledge management is indispensable to international firms. Research questions related with knowledge management can be epitomized as two questions. One is which factors stimulate knowledge management. Another question is how to process knowledge in international firms. To answer these questions an integrated model was proposed, in which knowledge management was postulated a kind of process. The data were collected from 95 manufacturing firms in Korea. Appropriate research methodologies were employed for the statistical analysis. Results found that the degree of firm's internalization and diversity of domestic management activities stimulate knowledge acquisition. And active learning orientation and increased knowledge acquisition facilitate knowledge transfer. Following the next stage of an on-going process, successful knowledge transfer facilitate knowledge exploitation as a result. These results, therefore, confirm what previous literature predicted.
