- Abstract
- Science textbooks present biological experiments which were mostly like a cook-book recipe in order to verify the theoretical knowledge. This research studied on the experiments verifying the material (starch) which is produced by photosynthesis. 19 different science textbooks (one textbook in grade-5, nine textbooks in grade-7, nine textbooks in grade-10) were analyzed. The practical difficulties in the photosynthetic product's experiments were investigated by posing a questionnaire and having an interview with teachers. The results showed the methods of the photosynthetic product's experiment in science textbooks were not appropriate and didn't present all processes of the experiment. Also, teachers had many difficulties in the process of practicing the experiment based on the methods presented by science textbook. After testing the experiments for photosynthetic product's verification, we suggested the improved experimental methods.
