Hub-spokes형 집중국망 운영에 따른 우편물 구분작업 인력절감 효과 분석

Abstract

Since 2002, Korea Post(KP) has been operating a Hub-spokes mail processing and distribution network which is composed of 22 mechanized mail centers and 1 mail exchange center. A scheme for evaluating workforce reduction by the newly built mail processing and distribution network is developed in this study. Based on the estimated effects of workforce reduction, the economic validation of the mail centers construction is analyzed. Four main factors enabling the workforce reduction such as curtailed sorting stage, increased pre-sorted mail volume, automated mail sorting machine and carrier level sorting capability, are identified and examined. We analyze their individual impact on the mail processing workforce reduction by comparing actual operational data of base period with measured one.
