Abstract
We studied the seawater bacterial parameters at south-east beach coast in Korea. The Escherichia coli and enterococci were evaluated instead of total coliform bacteria using as a bacterial indicator in Korea beach monitoring. The results showed that Korean recreational beaches have the beach illness risk much more than we expected. The bacterial colony counts were related with the population of swimmers. The monitoring programs of Korean beach should include the criteria of Escherichia coli and enterococci.
