- Abstract
- This paper focuses on surface runoff characteristics of city trunk road at different rainfall ranges using three years monitoring data. Analysis of hydrology and EMC (Event Mean Concentration) was carried out for five categories of rainfall events, such as 4 events in 1~10㎜ rainfall, 8 events in 10~20㎜, 4 events in 20~30㎜, 3 events in 30~50㎜ and 4 events above 50㎜. The survey area was secondary arterial road having area of 1240 m2 and 2% slope. The runoff flow increased with rainfall size for the five rainfall range and the trend was reverse for EMC. It was observed that the highest EMC was found at rainfall range of 1-10mm (SS 70.2㎎/L, BOD 27.6㎎/L, COD_(Mn) 207.0㎎/L, T-N 4.63㎎/L, T-P 0.543㎎/L). The increase of EMC was considerable at rainfall range of 30~50㎜. Conclusively the EMC at first rainfall flushing and in rainfall range of 1~10㎜ is recommendable for non-point source control in urban trunk road.
