- Abstract
- In 1955, Daesung Industrial began manufacturing chemical seasonings under the name of Mimiso. In 1956, Dong-A Hwaseong, the predecessor of Miwon, succeeded in industrialization under the brand name Miwon. In the chemical seasoning market represented by Ajinomoto at this time, Miwon began to secure a position in a short period of time. Since then, until 1963, when CheilJedang(CJ) entered the seasoning industry, the establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises decreased.
CJ acquired the Wonhyeong industry on December 28, 1963, and changed it to “Mipoong Industrial Co., Ltd.” to enter the Korean seasoning market in earnest. On September 30, 1968, CJ merged with Mipoong Industrial Co., Ltd. to add another seasoning business following the sugar and milling sector. As a result, the Korean seasoning market will have a bilateral system represented by Miwon of Dong-A Hwaseong Fortress and the breeze of CJ. Dong-A Hwaseong Fortress and CJ continue to strive to take the top spot in the industry.
