- Abstract
- 본 연구는 대중이 가지는 정신장애인에 대한 편견과 차별이 장애의 어떠한 행동적 속성에서 기인하는지를 파악하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 대학생 1,562명에게 정신분열, 우울증, 알코올중독, 약물중독, AIDS 그리고 수형자 사례를 무작위로 제시하고, 낙인과정에 포함된 문제의 원인, 정서적 반응, 편견, 행동적 반응을 조사 비교하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 문제의 원인에 대해 정신분열, 우울증과 AIDS는 사회 환경적 원인을, 중독과 수형자는 개인 심리적 원인을 선호하였다. 둘째, 우울증은 다른 집단에 비해 긍정적 정서를, 알코올중독과 코카인 중독은 부정적인 정서로 일관된 반응을 보였으나, 정신분열은 이중적 정서를 보였다. 셋째, 정신분열은 우울증보다 높은 편견과 부정적 행동 반응을 보였으며, 알코올중독은 정신분열, 우울증, AIDS 보다 높은 부정적인 행동 반응을 보였다. 넷째, 여성은 남성에 비해 정신분열과 알코올중독에 대한 편견과 차별이 높았다. 따라서 연구자들은 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 장애유형에 따른 차별화된 편견극복을 위한 대처방안을 제시하였다.
