- Abstract
- In a forming process with the high frequency induction heating, steel plate might not be initially flat if it is enforced with some amount of angular displacement to increase its final curvature for the process. In addition, the plate can also have as-received initial curvature from a previous process. The prediction of deformations for curved plates in such applications has not been quantitatively well studied in terms of the forming process. In this study, thermal and deformation analyses using finite element method are performed for curved plates in a forming process with various heating parameters. The deformations are obtained, and the heating and initial parameters are synthesized using a statistical method to produce simplified formulas, that describe the relations between the heating parameters and the initial conditions and angular deformations of the curved plates.
