| dc.description.abstract | BACKGROUND: Large amount of veterinary antibioticshave been used in the livestock industry to prevent diseasesand promote growth. These antibiotics are excreted throughfeces and urine in unchanged form and reach to agriculturalfields via application of the livestock manure basedcomposts. The purpose of this study was to evaluate theoccurrence of tetracyclines-resistant bacteria in the soilreceived livestock manure compost for a long term. METHODS AND RESULTS: Tetracyclines (tetracyclineTC, chlortetracycline CTC, and oxytetracycline OTC)resistance bacteria in the soil of rice-onion field applied pigmanure compost (PM), in the soil of grass-rye field receivedcow manure compost (CM), and in the soil of rice fieldapplied inorganic fertilizer (NPK) were determined. Thesoil received livestock manure composts clearly showedhigher number of TC, CTC, and OTC resistance bacteriacompared with the soil treated with inorganic fertilizer. Theantibiotic resistant bacteria recovered appeared at 80 mg/Lof tetracyclines was identified 1 specie, 6 genera 7 species, and 6 genera 7species in the soils received CM, PM, andNPK, respectively. The dominant resistant bacteria with theCM and PM application were Ochrobactrum andRhodococcus. CONCLUSION: The application of livestock manurecompost in the agricultural field is likely to contribute theoccurrence of antibiotic resistance bacteria in theagricultural environment. | - |
