- Abstract
- "The left-right symmetric model is one of the most natural extensions of the standard model with the SU(2)L × SU(2)R × U(1)B-Lgauge group. We study the charged Higgs boson in this model. Recently, the ATLAS and the CMS collaborations reported the search results for the light charged Higgs boson produced by the top quark's decay when the charged Higgs boson is lighter than the top quark. They used the tau lepton channel under the assumption that Br(H±→τν) was 100%. The data were consistent with the standard-model's background processes and led to upper limits on the branching ratio of the charged Higgs boson. Using their experimental results, we probe the charged Higgs boson in the left-right symmetric model and find that the light charged Higgs boson is absent for almost the entire parameter space.
