- Abstract
- This paper describes a new methodology and case study for probabilistic reliability based grid expansion planning of High-Voltage Direct-Current (HVDC) in a power system that includes Wind Turbine Generators (WTG). This problem is focused on deciding best connection bus of new transmission lines of HVDC in a viewpoint of reliability in power system including WTG. This requires two kinds of modeling and simulation for reliability evaluation. First one is how is reliability evaluation model and simulation of WTG. Another is to develop a failure model of HVDC. Furthermore, this problem should be formulated in hierarchical level II (HLII) reliability evaluation because of transmission lines consideration. Therefore, by using CmRel, a reliability evaluation program developed by the author, it is possible to contact an optimum bus point when a new HVDC is inputted. The methodology proposed is applied to a small-scale power system model.
