- Abstract
- This study was attempted to understand the relationship of work ethics and patient safety competency (PSC) among nursing students. The participants were 127, 4th grade nursing students living in J-do and G-do. Data were collected with structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, cannonical correlation analysis by SPSS 22.0. As a result, The level of work ethics was 3.55 points out of 5 and PSC was 3.80 points out of 5. The canonical variate indicated that the ‘attitude’ and ‘skill’ of the PSC were high in those who had a higher score of ‘harmonious relationship’, ‘morality, with work ethics, but who had lower score of ‘reduced leisure’. On the other hand, those with lower scores for ‘hard work’, ‘morality’, ‘saved time’, ‘self-reliance’, ‘delay of gratification’ in work ethics were low in PSC ‘knowledge’ scores. Therefore, there is a complicated relationship between work ethics and PSC. Based on these results, it can be seen that work ethics should be based on nursing student’s PSC.
