- Abstract
- This study proposes an architecture for digital twin systems that can interface physical manufacturing machines with existing application systems for building process BOM. It consists of several components including Integrated Digital Twin (IDT) database that manages sensors, interfaces and integrated digital twin objects. IDT database allows application systems to share digital twin objects with their record of sensor data. This enables existing common application systems to implement digital twin functions without additional sensors or interfaces to real world objects. This study implements the architecture with a prototype digital twin system that includes 3D printers, sensor interfaces, database systems, a product data management system and a data analytics application. Using the implemented system, this study builds example process BOM to verify the feasibility of the proposed architecture.
