낭독극의 정신분석학적 윤리와 수행 방안― 〈데드락〉 낭독극 워크숍 사례를 중심으로

초록

This article seeks to move beyond approaches that reduce reading theatre to a pedagogical technique or a tool for expressive training, and instead redefines it as an educational event that enables psychoanalytic ethics and performance. In particular, this study argues that reading theatre does not aim at the completion of textual understanding or emotional identification, but can function as an ethical event through performative procedures that organize the conditions for the emergence of object a. To this end, the article examines a reading theatre workshop based on the play Deadlock as a case study and analyzes its procedure through four stages: introduction, role assignment, reading, and sharing. In the stages of introduction and role assignment, narrative explanation and character analysis are deliberately suspended, and imaginary identification is dismantled through the use of an ethical if. The text is presented as a sign of lack, which activates participants’ invocatory drive. Role assignment is further extended in the reading stage through alternating and cross-reading, generating situations in which identical lines are repeatedly voiced by different speakers. As a result, the stability of meaning collapses, voice and gaze come to the foreground, and imaginary identification is fractured. This performative process activates the scopic drive and creates conditions under which participants come into contact with the Real. In the subsequent sharing stage, participants’ responses do not converge toward interpretive achievement or consensus, but remain connected in a delayed manner in the form of symptomatic utterances. In this context, ethics does not refer to the ability to understand or explain the other’s speech, but to a structural disposition that suspends response without eliminating what remains unexplained. Insofar as reading theatre operates by suspending the Big Other’s guarantee of meaning, it can be understood as an ethical event that sustains the conditions for the emergence of desire and the Real.
