Factors Associated with Quality of Life among Recent Retirees: A Multi-Group Analysis across Gender - Quality of Life Differences by Gender in Recent Retirees -

초록

This study analyzed data from 1,310 new retirees in the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA) to identify factors influencing their quality of life (QoL) and examine gender differences. For both male and female, subjective social status, retirement satisfaction, and depression were significant common predictors of QoL. Gender-specific factors were also identified: owner-occupied housing and alcohol consumption for men, and subjective health status for female. However, a multi-group regression analysis revealed no statistically significant structural differences in the impact of these predictors between genders. This suggests that the determinants of QoL are largely similar across genders in the initial retirement phase, highlighting the universal importance of psychosocial factors. Therefore, universal programs focusing on mental health and retirement satisfaction should be prioritized, enhanced with tailored interventions addressing gender-specific concerns like health for female and housing stability and the management of alcohol-related risk factors for male.
