초록
This study analyzed the factors influencing the degree to which female farmers recommend agriculture as a profession to young women in urban areas. ‘2023 Survey on the Status of Female Farmers’ data and an ordered probit model are adopted for analysis. Due to the labor-intensive nature of agriculture, older or more educated women, as well as those without husbands are less likely to recommend agriculture as a job. Also, those who spend more time on agricultural labor tend to less recommend. Whereas, those with higher agricultural and non-agricultural income or those who are members of agricultural cooperatives are more likely to recommend agriculture due to their increased economic stability. Women with more children or those who are returnees to farming also tend not to recommend agriculture. The perceived level of gender equality and safety from violence also significantly influenced the recommendation of agriculture as a profession. Notably, the more time women spend on household chores, the less likely they are to recommend agriculture, indicating that the level of gender equality in household labor division has a direct impact on job satisfaction.
