The Effects of Visiting Healthcare Education for Preventing Pressure Ulcer based on the Metaverse Platform for Nursing Students: Using Leap Motion and Haptic Devices

초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a visiting healthcare education for preventing pressure ulcer based on the Metaverse platform using leap motion and haptic devices on nursing students’ clinical reasoning competency, nursing profession self-efficacy, and clinical performance. Methods A single group before- and after- experimental design was used. A total of 68 senior nursing students were recruited from one college in Y city. The visiting healthcare education for preventing pressure ulcer based on the Metaverse platform using leap motion and haptic devices was conducted five times a week for two weeks, 60 minutes per session, for a total of 10 sessions. Results There were significantly improved in experimental group in the clinical reasoning competency(t=-9.72, p<.001), nursing profession self-efficacy(t=-8.12, p<.001), and clinical performance(t=-9.39, p<.001) after a visit ing healthcare education for preventing pressure ulcer based on the Metaverse platform using leap motion and haptic devices. Conclusions The significance of this study is that the visiting healthcare education for preventing pressure ulcer based on the Metaverse platform using leap motion and haptic devices would be effective in a real community practice settings. This visiting healthcare education may be a useful educational method for nursing students, and there is continuous efforts for applying this educational program in nursing school settings.
