세종학당 학문 목적 한국어 교육과정 개발을 위한 요구 분석 연구 - 국내･외 학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 중심으로 -

This study aims to provide basic data for the development of an academic Korean language curriculum at Sejong Institute in response to the shift in demand from general purpose Korean language education to academic Korean language education. To this end, surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted with domestic and international academic Korean language learners, and the results were analyzed to provide direction for the design of a standardized curriculum. The participants of the study consisted of international students, including those from Sejong Academy, Korean language learners at overseas universities, and Sejong Academy learners abroad, and a total of 403 participants were surveyed. The survey questions were designed to cover the need for academic purpose curriculum, how classes are organized, and preferred educational content, and in-depth interviews were conducted with 30 learners to supplement their actual experiences and specific educational needs that were not revealed in the survey. The results of the study showed that learners strongly recognized the need for an academically oriented curriculum from the pre-admission stage, and confirmed the need for a graduated curriculum for learners at intermediate and higher levels. In addition, they requested educational contents to foster practical academic performance skills such as vocabulary related to their major, academic writing, and lecture understanding and presentation. In terms of teaching methods, they favored a combination of online and offline classes, intermediate and higher levels, and task-based teaching. However, it was emphasized that learners need basic language skills and preparation for university life before entering university, but after entering university, the focus should be on solving the difficulties they face in actual university life, such as understanding lectures, writing papers, acquiring academic terminology, and utilizing the academic system. The significance of this study is that it has refined the direction and components of Sejong Academy's Korean language curriculum for academic purposes based on learners' actual experiences and educational needs, and laid a practical foundation for the expansion of Sejong Academy's educational areas and the establishment of a standardized curriculum in the future.
